STARSHIP SUBASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN - TEMPORARY POSITION
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Modify, repair, assemble, and install launch vehicle sub-assemblies
Drill, ream, and countersink holes in proper sequence and to correct size using hand and self-feed drill motors
Install fasteners in proper sequence per drawing, using correct tools
Self-check work after completion using QA instruments to ensure it is complete per drawing
Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner
Use solvents to clean surfaces prior to sealing or assembly
Stage, set up, assemble, test and install flight hardware
Use precision calibrated tools
Hands on operations with both large and small fragile assemblies
Forklift operations to move parts, material, and tooling
Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions
Use various mechanical tools without prior instruction
Collaborate with engineering to develop and document operations/build processes
Ensure all production services are performed on time, safely, and in a professional manner
Program, setup, and operate water jets and laser cutters to support flight/tooling production and troubleshoot process or quality issues as needed

POSITION DETAILS:
This is a temporary position with SpaceX, for the length of time as stated, and is subject to change with minimal notice as business needs dictate.
LENGTH OF POSITION: 6 months
LOCATION: Brownsville, TX
SHIFT: 1st and 2nd, must be available for overtime and weekends as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate
2+ years of professional propulsion, mechanical, automotive, electrical or avionics hardware installation experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience in the aerospace industry, aviation, military or automotive industry
Experience with forklifts, cranes and heavy transport equipment
Knowledge of pressure, temperature and flow measurement devices, mechanical and electrical systems, and propulsion engines
Skill in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity
Ability to use precision measuring instruments
Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
Waterjet or laser cutter experience
Proficient with computers and the ability to use MS Office
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted
Must be able to climb ladders and work in confined spaces
Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed
