The Core Search and AI team is the leading applied artificial intelligence team at Microsoft responsible for delivering the highest-quality experience to over 500M+ monthly active users around the world in Microsoft’s search engine, Bing.
The Core Search team is looking for an experienced Principal Product/Program Manager to build out the next generation of search using advanced AI technologies such as deep learning. Our scenarios include delivering high quality search results, captions, and even advanced scenarios such as question answering and document recommendations. We are constantly applying the latest state of the art AI technologies to our product and also transferring this technology to other groups across the company.

Responsibilities
In this role, some of your core responsibilities will be:
Understanding current user needs and gaps by doing opportunity analysis in the problem domain
Bringing empathy to design unique solutions to customer scenarios
Defining goals and metrics to measure success
Developing a strategy and differentiated value proposition for the area
Formulating release criteria for an MVP and driving a team of engineers and scientists to build, measure, learn and iterate towards a successful solution
Leveraging your superb interpersonal skills to collaborate and execute with a diverse team
Providing requirements to backend platform and frontend UX teams to scale the solution
Guiding Microsoft Research towards solving the future long-term AI problems we will face
Continuously reading the latest AI and deep learning papers from the hottest conferences (NIPS, ICLR, ICML ACL, EMNLP) and using ideas from them to inspire and direct the team
Working with marketing and PR teams to evangelize our work
Prototyping and playing with deep learning and AI toolkits like TensorFlow, PyTorch
Qualifications
Requirements for this role:
6+ years of industry experience in a product/program management role
Hands on experience with cloud, big data, machine learning, data science, Natural Language Processing, and/or large-scale distributed systems
Bachelors degree in Computer Science (or related technical field) or equivalent work experience
Additional skills that apply, but are not required for the role:
MBA or advanced technical degree such as Masters or PhD
Working knowledge of AI/Machine Learning toolkits such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
Experience in Natural Language Processing
Customer empathy with interpersonal, negotiating, and influencing skills
Demonstrated organizational, analytical, data science skills and intuition
Ability to creatively solve problems, collabroate across functions and teams, and a desire to lead
Solid business and strategic sense to maximize product market fit
Demonstrated ability to move and iterate quickly, crossing responsibility expectations by coding or designing mockups when necessary
