Job Description
Newport News Shipbuilding has an opportunity for a Radiologic Interpreter to join their team! Job responsibilities to include, but not limited to:
Examine radiographs of pipe and structural welds, castings, and lead shielding.
Conduct field inspections of weldments and/or castings
Prepare and/or review Radiographic Shooting Sketches (RSS’s) prior to radiographic operations. RSS’s are the plans and parameters involved in radiographing a subject (primarily castings).
Perform on-site audits of suppliers to ensure that the radiography of purchased material complies with established quality control standards and the applicable Purchase Orders
Perform procedure reviews
Provide training and technical guidance
Radiographic (RT) Interpreters evaluate RT film/images in order to accept or reject and disposition materials under examination by radiography.
Basic Qualifications
Associate’s Degree and 3 years of experience, 2 years of related experience can be substituted for Associate’s degree. 4 years of non-related experience can be substituted for Associate’s degree. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Associate’s degree
Preferred Qualifications
Minimum nine years of radiographic experience with at least five of those years spent in radiographic film interpretation certified as RT Level II
