Responsibilities

We are the Accessibility Insights team within the One Engineering System organization. We have been chartered and funded to improve the quality of the accessibility tools used within Microsoft. In our first few years, we have built developer-centric diagnostic tools for web, Windows desktop, and Android mobile. These tools have been very well received by our initial users and we are looking to extend these tools with more features and coverage. We have also shared these tools with the world as open-source projects.

We have an amazing opportunity for a Software Engineer. We are looking for someone with fluency in building React-based web user experiences in JavaScript or TypeScript. As a member of our team, you would enhance our current experiences, and build new tools and services, all with the goal of making the world’s software more accessible to everyone.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications

  • Demonstrated competence in JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and other open-source web libraries.

  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of algorithms, data structures and other factors that affect code quality, performance, and customer experience.

  • Demonstrated skill in time management and completing software projects in a cooperative team environment.

  • Qualified candidates must have already successfully completed or participated in the Microsoft LEAPProgram and worked in a software engineering environment.

Preferred qualifications

  • Some experience building software outside of the classroom environment like a hackathon, research project or related experience.

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements for this role.These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
